GHD Unior Rogla 2005
Hill Climb a Huge Success for V-Racing
Organisers V-Racing and Unior Turizem, with the help of numerous others, did our best to make the race course extra safe by installing additional rails and markings, and to ensure good conditions for all competitors alike.
Clerk of the Course Andrej Knez with his associates did a great job in making sure that the race was extremely well organised and run on schedule without any complications, and by providing good conditions for everybody; there were also no noteworthy injuries.
Drivers kept improving their times from heat to heat and all were spectacular in the second chicane just before the finish line, where most of the spectators were gathered. The latter were kept up to speed at all times, as the official commentator was doing a tremendous job in four languages, making sure that all key results were immediately known to foreigners as well.
The event finished with the price giving- and closing ceremony at the Planja hotel.
All the people who took active part in the race as well as attendants, crowds, observers, reporters gave the event a definite thumbs-up. This year’s race made for a good transition from a national into a large, international event. This assessment was also confirmed by the international FIA Observer with many years of experience in hill climbs, and his good mark provides an additional incentive and motivation for the future.
In addition, V-Racing drivers also complemented the club’s achievement at Rogla. Franjo Merkač posted a brilliant second place in the FIA International Hill Climb Challenge in Group A up to 1400 ccm and in the National Championship Division I, and a win in the Yugo Cup. Damjan Munda came third in the Yugo Cup while Matej Grudnik won in the Seicento Siemens Junior Cup. Mitja Strožič, Boštjan Celcer and Nevenka Merkač also posted good results. Congratulations and well done everybody.
